The Child Welfare Truth Telling Collective warmly invites you to a virtual Truth Circle on November 20, 2025, from 6:30-8:30 ET.

This space is for people who have, at some point, worked within or beside systems of child protection anywhere in the world and want to share truths and/or witness the truths of others about our complicity in causing harm.

You are invited if you have direct or indirect involvement such as those with lived experience, child welfare workers (past or current), counsellors, medical staff, policymakers, educators, foster carers, legal practitioners, and so on. Those among us who have interacted directly and indirectly with the child protection system may experience harm and be complicit in causing harm as well.

The child protection system is governed by a code of silence. Confidentiality is a double-edged sword that protects families but also keeps child welfare workers from sharing their stories. The Truth Circles are an opportunity to consciously push back against that code of silence and allow us to speak freely. This does not mean we will share case file information; rather, we share our own experiences. It allows us to be relational, respectful and compassionate with each other and treasure our own humanity in a field that is systemic in its complicity.

We hope that this is a space will help us grow in our truthfulness of the harms we’ve committed in the name of child welfare, while also letting us heal collectively and ignite our capacities for disruption and change.
